MY BIG BOSSING

Despite the awards received, Vic Sotto had a tough year because of the hate mails and bad reviews about My Little Bossings. Now that Kris Aquino and the never-ending product placements are gone, can he redeem himself and keep the Christmas tradition alive?
Three short stories that felt like a story book. The first story felt like a typical Enteng Kabisote movie that we got tired of, mostly because of Tony Y. Reyes. A thin plot, full of filter moments and annoying characters. But what makes Sirena slightly work is seeing Ryzza Mae Dizon act as a mermaid. The water scenes were neatly edited. Overall, it’s quick and it has a moral of accepting youself. Not much of a bad way to kill time. 2.5/5!

Taktak felt like a throwback to Vic’s “Ispiritista: Itay May Moomoo” and “Pak! Pak! My Dr. Kwak!” where there’s a fake mediator that confronted by a real ghost and learned his lesson. This time, it’s Ryzza instead of Bossing. The segment was fun artistically. There are some eerie moments and good color grading. The horror will only work on the kids, but it’s still a fun experience for the adults. Marian Rivera, Jose Manalo, Cris Villonco and Nico Antonio were okay for their small parts. Vic had a very emotional moment. It’s playful and it teaches kids that deceiving people, even ghosts, is bad. 3.5/5!
Prinsesa is the stronghold of the anthology. This is where you can say that Bossing finally listened to his critics. It’s not your typical fantasy film. The production design is so gorgeous you won’t recognize that most of the scenes happened in Paco Park. Vic laid back and let Ryzza do everything because this is her movie. She is Big Bossing. But the cast did something, too. Sef Cadayona made everyone laugh at his scenes. Kids won’t stop giggling every time he’s saying something. NiƱo Muhlach and Maricar de Mesa over-acted but not in an annoying way. Ruby Rodriguez and Rafa Siguion-Reyna are okay. Nikki Gil was good and Zoren Legaspi had a moment. Real talk: "Bukas Na" is better than "Let It Go." What I want to see more is Alonzo Muhlach because his scenes with Ryzza is so cute. After garnering awards from her previous entry, Bb. Joyce Bernal did a fantastic job in giving a simple and genuine film that will make kids dream and enjoy their youth. 3.5/5!

What’s common with the three stories? They all have a lesson and they were made with good intentions.

Not a huge comeback, but the Vic Sotto film that we loved is back in My Big Bossing. This doesn’t apply to everyone but if you want your kids to be kind, honest and closer to you, let them enjoy this. If you want them to be stubborn and disrespectful, watch the top-grossing movie of the week.

TASTY KIDDIE MEAL! 3.5/5
